From Passion to Building Nation’s Future Taekwondo Champs

Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym taking taekwondo to greater heights .Enhance self-esteem. Build self-confidence. Develop discipline. Strengthen mind and body. Teach self defense. These are some of the disciplines that a person could possess in engaging in one of the most well respected contact sports – taekwondo. Empowered by his passion for taekwondo during his high school years, Mark V. Pinggol never stopped pursuing his eagerness of influencing others especially the youth to play taekwondo. Starting his sports career as a taekwondo varsity player in Iloilo City National High School in 2002 to 2004, Sir Mark pursues teaching the sport right after graduation. Aside from being a nursing degree holder, Sir Mark is a licensed national coach and referee. He is also a 3rd Dan Black belt of Philippine Taekwondo Association and 2nd Kukkiwon Black belt. He used to be the Taekwondo Varsity Head Coach of Ateneo de Iloilo from 2012-2018. Sir Mark was also the Palarong Pambansa Official Coach of Region 6 in Elementary girls in 2016 and at the same year he served as the coach of Overall Champion team in elementary girls during Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet with six golds out of six players. In 2017, Sir Mark bagged the gold medal during the Chosun University Taekwondo Championships in Korea 2017. Recently, he became the Official Trainer of Region VI during Palarong Pambansa 2019. With all of his achievements, the 32-year-old taekwondo enthusiast venture to business in 2016 by founding the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym. When asked why he started his business, he happily shared, “Ever since I was in high school that’s when I started my taekwondo career. I really wanted to share my taekwondo passion to others.” Located at Megaworld Festive Walk, Mandurriao with operation hours of 10 am to 7 pm, MVP welcomes taekwondo enthusiasts from all walks of life and ages. “Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym aims to provide quality and affordable service and character formation to individuals through Taekwondo program. Our goal is to create potential Ilonggo joins or Region 6 players whom will be flag bearers of our country in the future International Taekwondo Competitions, or even in the Olympics,” expressed Sir Mark. Iloilo MVP Taekwondo gym offers taekwondo program for kids ages 4-6 years old and adult class 17 years old and above. With the unstoppable passion and proper discipline, Iloilo MVP Gym is one of the multi-awarded taekwondo gyms in the nation gaining recognition in competitions in both regional and national level. Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, one of the MVP players won during the Best of the Best taekwondo championships 2018. Another MVP player, Cyd Edryc Esmaña, also participated in Palarong Pambansa 2019. Also, 2nd Runner Up during the National Poomsae Taekwondo Championship-Manila in 2017.
