Germaine Marie Catague’s Struggles and Triumphants Her eyes reflect her strong yet loving personality, her hands shows the hard work she’s been doing for her family and loved ones, and her aura radiates the brightness of her character. Germaine Marie Catague is ought to be one of the outstanding young adults of Iloilo. Born in Jaro, Iloilo City, Ms. Germaine made her way to become a PADI SCUBA diver, licensed Molchanovs Freediver and a Flag Football player. Pursuing her love for flag football, she consistently practices every Tuesday and Fridays from 10 pm to 12 mn before she hit the gym. She is associated with Davao Ocean Divers in her SCUBA world and Molchanovs as her freediving family. “Both organizations are one of the best and I’m so blessed to be part of their growing family because it’s basically 50 percent of my personality, seeing the world under the sea, helping in coral conservation and restoration and cleaning up the ocean as one of our activities and duties as a responsible diver,” she happily shared. Despite accepting the baton of being the breadwinner of their family, she still made time to have time for herself. “I’m a person who doesn’t have an eight hours of sleep every single day because I do a lot of things as a breadwinner of the family. But I make sure to reward myself a good massage and a nice dive trip after a long work.” All of her heart work is for her family who she valued the most. When asked who has impressed her the most with all she had accomplished, she answered, “My parents. They were able to raise us very well and that I can say it’s their biggest accomplishments and I wish I can also do the same to my future kids (because I know that’s the hardest part. More than taking care of your businesses for it needs full time attention, nurturing, feeding and never ending patience!),” adding, “I’m blessed to have a weird and crazy family! Just one of a kind. We may have been through a lot but at least we rode the roller coaster together as one.” Travelling and exploring places are some things that she is fond of the most. The farthest that she’d been is in Fiji Islands and the most interesting place for her is Japan where its beauty, food, tradition, and people capture her attention and heart. Her latest adventure was in Amed, Bali Indonesia last March 2019 where she spent two weeks freediving in Amed Bali with her Molchanovs family from around the world. Aside from the her adventures and business, she also has the compassion for the community, stating, “Me and my friends in Manila have this small organization called ‘Save a Child, Save a Life’ to where we feed malnourished children every three months (thrice a year) and its fulfilling to the heart and soul.” For Ms. Germaine the best thing about her looking sophisticated but a cowgirl, boyish, and adventurous one. “For me, the worst thing about getting old is the start of limitations - Limited time, limited activities. Best thing about getting old is you’re getting more mature in life as time goes by, you learn and grow to be the best version of you,” she concluded.
